Your new hideaway for all the dreams you have when you think of escaping the reality. We are two best friends, who are obsessed with backpacking, exploring new places on a low budget and creating unforgettable moments with people we just met.

Welcome to our blog „life to remember“
A safe space, where we share our backpacking experiences, filled with tips and tricks we learned throughout our journey. This will be a very personal blog, which is why we love to start our first post with a small „get to know us“. Enjoy reading:)
We both grew up in the same small village, somewhere in Austria. We got very close in kindergarten and have been best friends ever since. We weren’t that close while growing up, went to different schools, had different friend groups and different hobbies. Even though we usually met every few months, it always felt like we’ve never been apart. It was very genuine and real – so real that no matter what, we always considered one another as our best friend, even if we haven’t heard from each other in ages. We had a good connection all along, which brought us closer together when we were a little older and decided to travel to France and the Netherlands. Our first travel experience together, but also without „grown ups“ on our side. We loved those trips and suddenly were planning a journey to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand out of the blue. Thinking back, it’s crazy how not a single person believed us that we would actually make this trip, until we secretly booked a one way ticket to Melbourne. Well this is a whole different story for another chapter. Back to the beginning.
Hey I am Johanna,
I’m 21 years old, my pronouns are she/her and I currently live in Vienna. Harry Styles once said „fill up your own cup and let them fall in love with the overflow“. At the moment I’m happily working on filling up my own cup. After I graduated from school, this cup was pretty empty. I wanted to get away from home, needed time to find myself and realise what I want to do with my life. Emma and I took a chance and spent 2023 mainly in Australia and New Zealand. An incredible experience that filled my cup steadily. After that journey I moved to Vienna and fell in love with the city. I enjoy being with my friends, but also connecting to new people. I am obsessed with music and part of a few amazing fandoms – by the time you’ll probably find out which artists I adore, cause I always find a way to sneak in quotes or lyrics. I love to go to concerts and currently found a way to work at venues. As much as I love being in a big city, I find my way home regularly to escape the city hustle.

My name is Emma,
my pronouns are she/her and I´m also 21 years old.
Traveling the world has always been my biggest dream, especially visiting Australia. I definitely got the travel gene from my mom. I grew up by seeing many adventurous photos of her from around the globe and often looked through her photo album from Australia. This quickly became my passion, so it happend that every presentation and every group project I had in school was about travel and Australia. You can only imagine how incredible the past year has been for me! I still talk about traveling all the time, the only difference is that now, I talk about the experiences that I made on my travels. I´m thrilled to share all the tips and tricks that we collected with all of you! My love for travel led me to pursue a degree in Tourism and Leisure Management, allowing me to dive deeper into my passion and even gave me the opportunity to spend some time abroad. That´s why I´m currently on a exchange semester in Sweden, of course taking every opportunity to see more of this amazing planet and meet new people. Besides traveling, my other passions and current obsessions include: friends, gym, reading, concerts, winter, skiing, nature, lakes, blue, motorcycles, Formula 1, backpacking, journaling, cooking, blogging and more!
My current Dream Destination:
The goal with this blog is to share our stories and best travel advices for backpacking. From the very first start of how to organise and plan a trip, to helpful suggestions during the journey, such as secret local spots and common tourist traps. We reveal the best apps, which are necessary for backpacking and talk about the importance of finance check ups. We list pros and cons if you consider traveling with a friend, but also show the insights of solo travelling. There are so many important topics and insiders, which are definitely a game changer if you know them beforehand.
