This post will be all about the top things to do in Adelaide. Mainly in Adelaide City Centre. The south coast in general all around Adelaide has so much more to offer but I was only able to see the city centre for a few days and wanted to do an extra post on other things to do around the city a bit later. I think it is important to have more information about the city centre of Adelaide because not a lot of people cover that.
You will not need a lot of time in the city itself. People are normally not staying for to long and only have it as a short stop between destinations. The city itself is also not the most beautiful or charming but it is still worth a short visit!
Adelaide central market
As a foodie, it is a must, the Adelaide Central Market is as said in the centre of Adelaide, so easy to reach and offers so many amazing things you should try. But they also have fresh produce and souvenirs from small businesses. There were so many people that I have seen in the whole of Adelaide…
South Australian Museum
This museum is free and gives you so much information about the aboriginal culture and history which is very interesting and a must if you are planning to go into the outback for example after Alice Springs! I think there are not many opportunities to learn more about Australian culture so I would suggest using this opportunity!
Adelaide Botanical Garden
I think my favourite spot in the whole of Adelaide is the botanical garden. They have a huge offer of different plants and also there is a big planetarium in the middle with such a beautiful point. As well as the botanical garden café is worth a visit to relax and be a bit productive. I enjoyed it so much.
Adelaide Himeji Garden
This little garden is not very big and doesn´t need a lot of time to visit. But it is so sweet and the design is kinda inspired by Asian gardens so really cute and it feels like you are completely in a small zen garden even though you are completely in the city.
Rundle Mall and St. for Shopping
If you are a book fan then you have to check out the Dymocks in Adelaide. It really has the most stunning interior I have ever seen! High ceilings and so much space to read etc.
In Adelaide, there are so many murals and beautiful street art pieces.
Haigh´s Chocolates which you have probably heard of is founded in Adelaide and there is the biggest shop also located on that Street for you to find more souvenirs.
Art Gallery of South Australia
Also a free activity for anyone who likes Art and has still time. I wouldn´t recommend it as a must but if you have time then this is a great option. And to be honest, the coolest Art you will find all around Adelaide like this one for example:
Government House/ Town Hall
Not important to visit the building itself but, on this balcony there were the Beatles back in 1964 were some of the most famous photos of them. You will most likely walk by the building when you walk into the city or around it.
Australian Space Discovery Centre
This is a great way for young and old to learn more about space in such a modern and fantastic museum in Adelaide. Perfect for a bad weather day!
River Torrens & Park around Adelaide
What I like most about Adelaide is that the city centre is surrounded by a park. So easily reachable by all who live inside the city and great for long walks. The parks could be more beautifully done I have to admit but it is nevertheless a great spot to go for a morning run if you wish.
These were the top things to do in Adelaide CBD. We hope you enjoyed this little guide to this interesting city in the south of Australia. Let us know if you have any other unique things to do in Adelaide and recommendations to share please don´t hesitate to write a short comment.
Live a life to remember!

About the Author:
If Emma were a word, she would be „daydreaming“ - the kind of daydreaming that feels more active than dreamy. No matter where she is, you’ll catch her thinking about the artsy city of Melbourne, wishing to take a walk through Central Park, dreaming of seeing the Northern Lights, and so on. The list is long. What’s adorable and also very impressive is that Emma doesn’t stay lost in the haze of her dreams; it won’t be long before the first opportunity appears, and she’ll be on her way to fulfill them.
