Travelling as a vegan can sometimes be a bit challenging, but my Vegan in Vienna guide will help you enjoy your trip without the stress of finding the right restaurant.
After a busy day in the city, a little too offensive weather and a step counter that already counted more steps than it should have, it’s often the right time to get food! And usually it has to be fast – and vegan. Which is not always that easy, because suddenly you are browsing through the different sites and barley see any vegan offers. Especially when your non vegan friends are waiting for you to decide, the „hangry“ situation can get even more tense.
In order to prevent your stress I tested a lot of vegan food spots, you’ll find in Vienna.
After struggling to find good categories for these food spots I decided to make it as simple as possible and give you a little sweet and sour tour. For clearance, if I add a spot to sweet, there are savoury options available as well, but the sweet side dominates. The same goes with the sour categorised ones.
Vienna has so many amazing plant-based spots, and with this vegan in Vienna guide, you won’t have to waste time searching!
Sweet – short & sugary
Veganista
Location: 10/10 located all around the city
Price-Quality: 6/10 you usually get a good scoop of high quality ice cream, but still quite expensive
Vibe: 7/10 small, simple and light coloured, just like the ice cream – I miss a few more seating options
Taste: 10/10 very delicious, a lot of different flavours
Veganista is a ice cream shop, which provides 100% vegan ice cream, in all kind of flavours. As a vegan it’s like a wonderland seeing so many different creamy ice cream flavours to choose from. They change their flavours regularly and offer really special treats like: Germknödel, Sachertorte, Zotter Schokolade (which are traditional Austrian desserts, converted into ice cream). It’s a perfect treat for sunny days. Keep in mind that most Veganista shops close in winter, so if you’re craving ice cream during the colder months, check online for open locations.
Das Suess’Kind
Location: 8/10 a little hidden, but easy to reach
Price-Quality: 8/10 it’s all bio and mainly vegan
Vibe: 10/10 the whole place fits perfectly in their aesthetic
Taste: 9/10 delicious, feels like the perfect soul food
Suess’Kind is a perfect spot to eat without worrying about the healthiness. The menu changes regularly, sometimes even daily – to prevent food waste and be able cook saisonal, they also have the bio certification. Inside you’ll find an open kitchen, to see directly where your food is cooked. Cakes and treats are presented by the counter, which gives you the first glimpse of todays menu. To get a full vision of the menu, the waitress will guide you through the offers. It feels a bit like eating at home, it was very wholesome. *Btw the worker told us that all the sweets are made without industrial sugar and is sweetened with different ingredients like dates.

Price-Quality: 8/10 affordable
Vibe: 9/10 really cool vibe, with a lot of seating options
Taste: 8/10 only tried matcha latte
If you need to plan your trip further, study or work something on your laptop Coffee Pirates is the perfect spot for it. You have free Wifi, a lot of seating options and a direct source to get some matcha latte.

Café Kriemhild
Location: 7/10 a more quiet region
Price-Quality: 8/10 it’s good
Vibe: 8/10 it will trick your mind – thinking this is old and traditional, but definitely a creation of the younger generation
Taste: 8/10 a good variety
This café seems like another traditional viennese café. Taking a closer look it transformed into a lovely vintage hipster place. The amount of seating options and opening hours offer good spots to hang out with friends. The pool table section also offers a really cool fun activity. It is also work friendly, so grab your laptop, paper and pen and enjoy some time there. The food is really good and offers a good amount of vegan options.

Florentin
Location: 9/10 simple to reach
Price-Quality: 8/10 the quality is really good
Vibe: 10/10 the café is such a vibe
Taste: 8/10 it was good
I really love the aesthetic of the café, with all the pictures and plants. There are not too many vegan options, but still a few. Most of the meals are veggie though. You can only pay with cash, so make sure to bring some.

Sour – for your guts (and glory)
Bistro Deppat
Location: 6/10 a bit more hidden
Price-Quality: 7/10 the quality is really good, but the price is giving inflation
Vibe: 10/10 small and cozy
Taste: 10/10 soooo good
Bistro Deppat is such a cute little café to enjoy your breakfast or lunch. It’s 100% vegan and offers such great breakfast classics, like a english, or viennese breakfast. I was genuinely shook by the taste of the food, I need to go again soon to try more of their menu. My personal highlight was the lox bagel (vegan salmon) and the banana bread.
Honu Tiki Bowls
Location: 10/10 there are a few different locations
Price-Quality: 9/10 the portions are generous
Vibe: 8/10 love their shops, really cute tropical vibe
Taste: 10/10 absolutely good
One of my go to places for delicious bowls. You can create your own bowl and choose all the ingredients yourself. Right next to the bowl section is usually a juice bar, where you can get a freshly pressed drink.
Vevi – Vegan Vietnamese Kitchen
Location: 8/10 near Westbahnhof
Price-Quality: 9/10 very generous portions
Vibe: 7/10 comfortable inside, the outside area is really sweet
Taste: 10/10 I’m obsessed
I really love Vevi. I have never been in a restaurant with such a large menu of vegan soul food. It’s not only super delicious, the portions are huge and I usually have to take the rest home with me. Therefore it’s great to have a snack for later, but it’s also a little sad, cause I want to try more from the menu! My absolute favourite is the Bun-Bowl with spring rolls and bbq-soy-skewers.
VeVi – Vegan Vietnamese Kitchen in Wien
BAO MeBu
Location: 9/10 very close to Coffee Pirates (they have two locations)
Price-Quality: 8/10 amazing quality, the price is good
Vibe: 8/10 really comfortable, huge place and usually not too crowded
Taste: 10/10 love it
Usually this restaurant wouldn’t make it in my vegan ranking, because it has one vegan bao bun in the menu. But it’s too good not to add it in! It’s the seitan bao. If you’d also choose non vegan buns, you can even combine two different buns from the menu, which is really cool.
Wolke
Location: 9/10 there are two locations, one directly by the Neubaugasse and very much in the center
Price-Quality: 8/10 very good quality, a bit pricey
Vibe: 9/10 cloudy and pink
Taste: 9/10 taste as heavenly as they look
Wolke is known for it’s colourful pizzas. They offer mainly vegan varieties, which are so delicious. Have you ever tried a pink or purple pizza? Not only the pizzas make you feel like you’re in heaven, also their Bali Brunch is a tasty experience.
I hope this list inspired your culinary trip as a vegan in Vienna and made it easier for you to find vegan gems during your city trip. There are so many vegan hotspots in Vienna and my list is still long. If you want to see more, let me know in the comment section.
Pro tip: If you’re looking for more spots, search ‘vegan’ on Google Maps—it’s an easy way to expand your vegan in Vienna adventure!
